Masaka Vocational Training Institute Formalizes Strategic Partnership with Masaka Diocese

Masaka, Uganda | 11 July 2025

Masaka Vocational Training Institute (MVTI) is proud to announce a major milestone in its journey of service and impact. On 11th July 2025, MVTI formally entered into a strategic partnership with Masaka Diocese through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute’s Founder and Director, Mr Francis Kamulegeya, and the Bishop of Masaka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba.

This partnership marks a defining moment in the history of MVTI, one that is both strategic and deeply symbolic. It represents a shared commitment to safeguarding the continuity, sustainability, and future growth of the Institute’s mission to train and skill young people, with particular emphasis on deaf and hard-of-hearing learners.

Reflecting on the significance of the partnership, Mr. Francis Kamulegeya shared:

“I know I will die sometime, but I did not want my aspiration and vision of training and skilling the youth, especially deaf children, to end with my death.”

At its core, this collaboration is about a legacy that transcends individual lifetimes and speaks to the enduring power of education to uplift communities, empower youth, and build systems that serve the common good. By partnering with Masaka Diocese, MVTI becomes part of a long-standing tradition of Catholic-founded institutions known for excellence in holistic education, strong values, and sustainable governance.

The partnership also brings an added layer of spiritual and moral grounding to MVTI’s training model. It reinforces the Institute’s commitment to developing not only technically skilled graduates, but also responsible, ethical, and socially conscious citizens. This aligns closely with the Catholic philosophy of education, which emphasizes the formation of the whole person intellectually, morally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

Masaka Diocese brings with it a wealth of experience in managing reputable institutions, including St. Kizito Technical Institute, Kitovu, St. Charles Lwanga, among others. MVTI draws inspiration from this legacy of excellence and service, believing that today’s world needs an education system that forms character as well as competence. As an institution dedicated to empowering youth, including the deaf and hard of hearing, MVTI views this partnership as a pathway to broader support, strengthened governance, and long-term sustainability of its programs and impact.

MVTI extends its deepest gratitude to Bishop Serverus Jjumba and the entire leadership of Masaka Diocese for embracing this vision and committing to walk this journey together. Their support reaffirms the belief that education rooted in faith, service, and shared responsibility can transform individuals, families, and communities for generations to come.

With this partnership, Masaka Vocational Training Institute has positioned itself as a center of excellence for holistic vocational formation, strengthening technical skills, nurturing moral and spiritual values, expanding access to opportunities for young people, and fostering sustainable community development. Together, MVTI and Masaka Diocese lay a strong foundation for empowering learners with practical competencies, ethical leadership, and a spirit of service that will positively shape the workforce and society for generations to come.
